Garden of Mind

"Years ago, I encountered a Gustav Klimt painting at the National Gallery in Ottawa, and I was completely dazzled by the way he painted skin. The colours felt luminous, unexpected, and alive, and that experience has stayed with me ever since.

Garden of Mind grows out of that fascination. In this piece, skin becomes a place of exploration: full of oranges, violets, blues, greens, and yellows rather than simple flesh tones. The figure and flowers echo one another, creating a loose, expressive meditation on colour, light, and the inner life of the body."
