Nightingale

"She was a representation of my soul. When I awoke, I knew I had to paint her."

48" x 48"

Acrylic on Canvas

"Nightingale emerged from a deeply moving meditation. During an extended journey inward, I found myself riding alongside a horse through a landscape that felt both familiar and otherworldly. We travelled together for what seemed like a long time, and I felt a profound sense of connection—as though the horse was both a companion and a reflection of something within myself. At one point, it communicated its name to me: Nightingale.

When the meditation ended, the experience lingered with an unusual clarity. Over the following weeks, I painted intensely, trying to capture not only the image of the horse but the feeling of wonder, connection, and presence that accompanied it.

Built from hundreds of interwoven shapes, colours, and textures, the horse’s coat became a meditation of its own. Each mark contributed to a larger whole, reflecting the many experiences, memories, and emotions that shape our inner lives. For me, Nightingale is a portrait of imagination, intuition, and the mysterious places we can sometimes encounter when we become still enough to listen."
